Off a 2017 Apertura debut that included 13 player debuts in Mexico's top flight, only three games finished in draws, while Tigres put on the best possible show to start their new season.
Here are Week 1's Liga MX Power Rankings:
1. TIGRES UANL (no change)
There was an ocean of difference between Tigres and Puebla in their Week 1 match that finished with a 5-0 win. Enner Valencia got a hat trick and made a resounding statement on his return to Liga MX, which he left in 2014.
2. MONTERREY (+1)
Although manager Antonio "Turco" Mohamed left Estadio Morelos pleased after Monterrey's scoreless draw vs. Morelia, he must keep in mind that Rayados haven't won a league game since April 22. On Friday, their main attackers had great scoring chances but couldn't convert.
3. CHIVAS (+1)
Now that the Gold Cup has come to an end for Mexico's national team, Chivas will be eager to reintegrate their five starters on El Tri duty, an influx of players that will solve many of Matias Almeyda's headaches in recent weeks. Nevertheless, El Rebano Sagrado started the season with a scoreless draw against a tough Toluca side.
4. SANTOS LAGUNA (+1)
In its 2-2 draw against Lobos BUAP, Julio Furch scored one of Santos' goals. Furch scored only five goals in 19 starts last season, so it will be important for him to make a bigger offensive impact this Apertura.
5. PACHUCA (-3)
In their debut, Los Tuzos lacked firepower, and Pumas made them pay. Their 1-0 loss shouldn't cause that much worry, considering that a bulk of the team's core is still absent due to Gold Cup participation.
6. TOLUCA (no change)
Much of Toluca's offense keeps passing through Rubens Sambueza, and although Hernan Cristante's team developed some great scoring chances, it was able to take only a point away from Estadio Chivas.
7. ATLAS (+2)
In their 3-0 win over Leon, Rafael Marquez went the full 90. Ghana international Clifford Aboagye and Marquez could make up one of the best midfield tandems in Liga MX.
8. CLUB TIJUANA (-1)
Eduardo "Chacho" Coudet's coaching debut in Liga MX didn't go as planned. The team showed a lot of ineffectiveness in the final third, and Coudet will hope to get that problem resolved as soon as possible.

9. CLUB AMERICA (-1)
There were few positive takeaways for Miguel "Piojo" Herrera following America's 1-0 loss to Queretaro. Perhaps the main positive takeaway was Cecilio Dominguez's return to the field. Dominguez will be one of Las Aguilas' main points of attack.
10. QUERETARO (+1)
Even though Queretaro had Emanuel Villa and Erbin Trejo out with injuries for its debut against America, it counted with a phenomenal display from goalkeeper Tiago Volpi, whose saves led Los Gallos to an important 1-0 away win.
11. PUMAS UNAM (+1)
Nicolas Castillo scored one of the best goals of Liga MX's first week via a masterful free kick. However, at times it looked like Castillo was the team's most active player. The Chilean striker will need support for his team to win a playoff place.

12. CRUZ AZUL (+1)
Every time Cruz Azul can start the season on the right foot, it adds some much-needed optimism to a club that has done very little on the grand stage in recent years. Los Celestes' 2-0 win over Tijuana was highlighted by newcomer Edgar Mendez's brace.
13. MORELIA (-3)
It was unfortunate that Morelia's best scoring opportunities fell on the boots of Ecuadorian Jefferson Cuero, whose poor decision-making in the final third caused Monarcas to waste clear goal chances.
14. NECAXA (+1)
In a span of seven minutes, Necaxa scored the two goals that got it a 2-0 win over Veracruz. Paraguayan striker Carlos Gonzalez will be one to keep an eye on.
15. LEON (-1)
It's the second season in a row that Leon has had a disappointing home debut. Last season, it debuted with a 4-2 loss to Pachuca while on Saturday, it lost 3-0 to Atlas. Let's see if La Fiera will be able to turn things around in the coming weeks.
16. LOBOS BUAP (+1)
Julian Quinones' and Luis Quinones' displays were fundamental in Lobos BUAP's 2-2 draw with Santos. After the match, head coach Rafael Puente Jr. warned that his team will offer a lot of entertainment to the spectators.
17. VERACRUZ (-1)
Veracruz had a quiet debut, which included a lot of innocent errors in defense. Los Tiburones Rojos' debut wasn't inspiring.
18. PUEBLA (no change)
In Monterrey, Puebla proved that it will have a hard time competing with the best sides in the league. New manager Rafael "Chiquis" Garcia has a long season ahead of him.
