Seven footballers and three members of coaching staffs were sent off in Week 2 while Club America ended Pachuca's home unbeaten streak, which lasted 29 Liga MX games.
Here are Week 2's Liga MX Power Rankings:
1. TIGRES UANL (no change)
After Eduardo Vargas scored his first goal of the Apertura and gave Tigres an early lead in their match against Santos Laguna, their tempo dropped, allowing Santos to tie the game 1-1. Even though Tigres ended the game a man down due to Enner Valencia's dismissal, they looked more dangerous at the end of a game that finished all square.
2. MONTERREY (no change)
In Monterrey's 1-0 win over Veracruz, Los Tiburones Rojos finished with 65 percent possession versus Monterrey's 35 percent. However, Rayados took six shots on goal. Against his former club, Xolos, Aviles Hurtado might score his first goal for Monterrey.
3. ATLAS (+4)
Rafael Marquez once again went the full 90 and played a fundamental role in Atlas' 2-1 win over Pumas. In the 71st minute, Marquez sent a laser of a cross into the box, and it found Matias Alustiza, whose header gave Los Rojinegros their second win of the Apertura.

4. CHIVAS (-1)
Although they were down 1-0 after 30 minutes, Chivas came back strong in the second half, and thanks to Rodolfo Pizarro's moment of genius, they left Mexico's capital with a point after a 1-1 draw.

5. TOLUCA (+1)
Toluca cruised past Leon on Sunday. Colombian striker Fernando Uribe scored two goals that helped Los Diablos Rojos get a convincing 3-1 win over Leon.
6. CLUB AMERICA (+3)
Cecilio Dominguez's brace helped America complete a convincing 2-0 win over Pachuca. After the match, Miguel "Piojo" Herrera highlighted that the important takeaway from the victory was to see players such as Darwin Quintero and Silvio Romero win with confidence.

7. SANTOS LAGUNA (-3)
Santos has played against two of the best sides to start off this new season in Tigres and Lobos BUAP. The fact that Los Guerreros got two draws in those games without captain Carlos Izquierdoz should be seen as a positive.
8. NECAXA (+6)
With wins over Veracruz and Xolos, the "Nacho" Ambriz era at Necaxa has started on a high note, but now comes a visit to Chivas.
9. CRUZ AZUL (+3)
Edgar Mendez continues to impress with La Maquina. However, after the 1-1 tie vs. Chivas, manager Paco Jemez noted that his team will need reinforcements because key starters Martin Rodriguez and Julian Velazquez will be out for a considerable time.
10. LOBOS BUAP (+6)
After two weeks, Tigres and Lobos BUAP have given the most dominant performances in the new season. Lobos' 4-0 win over Queretaro was a statement win, which highlighted the team's attractive playing style.
11. PACHUCA (-6)
The last time Pachuca started with back-to-back defeats was in the 2015 Clausura. Against Club America, Los Tuzos lost their first home game since November 2015, so currently the club is passing through turbulent times and needs to react quickly to get back into the race.
12. CLUB TIJUANA (-4)
Once again, goalkeeper Gibran Lajud committed an error inside the box that permitted Necaxa to score the only goal of the match. Xolos' 1-0 loss against Necaxa highlighted that this team is nowhere near being defined.
13. QUERETARO (-3)
Last season's final home game finished with a 5-1 loss to Tigres, and to start this new season, Queretaro lost 4-0 to newly promoted side Lobos BUAP. The recent home results in the Jaime Lozano era haven't been positive, and his next moves will be important for the club's future in the Apertura.
14. PUMAS UNAM (-3)
After their 2-1 defeat to Atlas, Pumas prepare for their visit to Estadio Azteca to play against America. It will be a major test in the Francisco Palencia era, and if Pumas manage to give a good game, it will be like a sigh of relief.
15. MORELIA (-2)
In what was a wild game, Puebla's defender Brayan Angulo scored both goals in Morelia's 1-1 draw against Morelia. Monarcas had a poor offensive showing, taking only one shot on goal.
16. PUEBLA (+2)
Puebla was on the verge of a vital 1-0 win over Morelia, but experienced goalkeeper Moises Munoz's bad timing proved costly. He came off his line to defend a corner, but the ball pinged off Angulo's leg and into the net.
17. VERACRUZ (no change)
In its 1-0 loss to Monterrey, Veracruz took zero shots on goal. Los Tiburones Rojos are one of three teams that have yet to score in the Apertura.
18. LEON (-3)
Javier Torrente's time at Leon is being heavily criticized just two games in. Starting the season with two big losses -- 3-0 vs. Atlas and 3-1 vs. Toluca -- has Leon's fans questioning all of Torrente's decisions, especially the team's playing style.
