Napoli Serie A title challenge a 'miracle' - Lorenzo Tonelli

Napoli defender Lorenzo Tonelli believes his team are performing "a minor miracle" in Serie A this season.

The Partenopei sit two points behind Juventus at the top of the league and can return temporarily to the top with a win against Sassuolo on Saturday.

"There are 50 days and nine cup finals left," Tonelli said on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli. "We have to win them all, or almost all of them. It will be beautiful, it will be exciting. We're playing for a piece of history and we're ready for it.

"The coach [Maurizio Sarri] always repeats that Juve are more organised, have more money, we're not obliged to win like the Bianconeri are. We're performing a minor miracle."

Tonelli believes the fans have had a huge impact on the team's performance this season but reckons the San Paolo could be improved further,

He added: "If we had a more compact stadium, without the running track ... imagine a San Paolo with 40-50,000 people five or six metres away, what a bear pit that would be?

"With their shouting, people could change the trajectory of the ball."
