NYCFC signs Federico Bravo on loan from Boca Juniors

New York City FC has signed defensive midfielder Federico Bravo on loan from Argentina giants Boca Juniors for the 2016 season.

Bravo, 22, has played 37 time for Boca Juniors since 2013.

"This league is growing rapidly and is an exciting place to play," Bravo told NYCFC's official website. "My position is defensive midfield, but I can also play in central defense. I will give 100 percent on every play and support the team wherever necessary.

"This is a great club to be part of, I can feel that already. I joined up with the group a few days ago and everyone is focused, working hard and looking forward to the start of the season. We hope to have a good year."

NYCFC coach Patrick Vieira said Bravo brings versatility to the squad for the start of the season.

"He's a holding midfielder that can also play at the back, I like this versatility," Vieira said. "He's got good technical ability and importantly his game understanding is really good.

"He's already fitted well into the group and trained with the players for the first time yesterday. He is fit and ready to play".

He is the second player from Boca Juniors to join an MLS team on loan this week after Luciano Acosta signed for D.C. United on Monday.
