Dos Santos keen on La Liga stay

Despite reported interest from MLS side LA Galaxy, Giovani dos Santos says he sees his future in La Liga if he does leave relegated Mallorca this summer.

Mallorca president Lorenzo Serra Ferrer has confirmed that an unnamed U.S. club had made an offer - thought to be €8 million - for the player. However Dos Santos is keen to stay in Spain, with Valencia leading Sevilla and Betis in the race for his signature.

Newly-promoted Villarreal have also now entered that race, hoping he player will take the chance to team up again with coach Marcelino, knowing the pair worked together successfully at Racing Santander.

The Mexico international, 24, told Superdeporte that he did not want to say too much, out of respect to his current club, but suggested he would be playing for a different Spanish side next season. “I want to respect my team, I have a contract with them,” Dos Santos said. “I repeat, at the end of this spell with the national team, we will decide, but of course I want to stay in Spain.

Dos Santos’ former club Tottenham Hotspur reportedly still retain 50% of his rights after selling the other 50% to Mallorca for €1 million in summer 2012. His value has since increased after impressive displays last term which brought six goals and six assists in 29 Primera Division games.
