Oliver Baumann joins Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim have signed 23-year-old goalkeeper Oliver Baumann from fellow Bundesliga side Freiburg.

Baumann came through the ranks at Freiburg and made 131 appearances for them in the league, but he had been looking to make the step up from a side which finished 14th in the table.

"After 14 years at SC Freiburg, I'm very keen to have some new surroundings,'' Baumann told Hoffenheim's website. "Hoffenheim have really shaken up the league lately with their very attacking playing style. I will try to provide a solid backing to help this playing style and develop even more. I'm looking forward to the challenge.''

No transfer fee has been revealed by either club, but Hoffenheim said that Baumann's new contract runs to June 2018.

Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen said: "Oliver Baumann will lend us even more stability with over 130 Bundesliga games worth of experience and his undisputed sporting quality. Moreover, we're confident that, as a person, Oliver fits in with our young team. We're very happy that he has opted for TSG and the path that we're on.''
