PSG agree deal for defender Juan Foyth - Juan Sebastian Veron

TANGIER, Morocco -- Estudiantes chairman Juan Sebastian Veron has confirmed that a deal is in place for defender Juan Foyth to join Paris Saint-Germain for a fee in excess of €10 million.

Foyth, 19, had been a target for Tottenham Hotspur for some time and Mauricio Pochettino's men initially led the chase for his signature but Veron has revealed PSG are on the verge of signing the Under-20 Argentina international ahead of Spurs.

"We already have an agreement between PSG and Estudiantes for Juan," Veron told Radio Continental. "All that is left is for his representatives to strike a deal."

The former Manchester United, Chelsea, Lazio and Parma midfielder, who came out of retirement earlier this year, added: "Foyth's sale will be for more than €10m."

PSG's offer was previously described by Veron as "concrete and better than that of Tottenham," and it appears Les Parisiens are about to get their man after missing out on Pepe earlier this summer.

If sporting director Antero Henrique can complete the signing of Foyth, the teenager will become the fourth-choice central defender in coach Unai Emery's squad behind captain Thiago Silva, the skipper's fellow Brazil international Marquinhos -- who recently extended his contract until 2022 -- and youth academy graduate Presnel Kimpembe.

Full-backs Dani Alves and Yuri Berchiche have already boosted Emery's defensive options this summer and with Serge Aurier expected to leave before the end of the transfer window -- possibly to Spurs -- PSG's back four has a new look to it heading into the coming season.
