Armed men hold up bus carrying Venezuela's Trujillanos team

CARACAS, Venezuela -- Six armed men have held up a bus carrying a Venezuelan first division football team.

Trujillanos said on Monday that their bus was hijacked at 2:30 a.m. as the players were returning from the eastern city of Monagas. Both players and team staff were robbed, but no one was hurt.

The club said on Twitter that the players were held by the armed men, who threatened to detonate a grenade, for two hours.

Venezuela's Association of Professional Football Clubs is calling on officials to take measures to protect players as they travel across the country on often dangerous highways.
