Sofiane Boufal boosts Lille beyond nine-man Lyon

Sofiane Boufal's free-kick secured Lille a 1-0 home win against nine-man Ligue 1 rivals Lyon and extended his side's unbeaten run to five matches.Lille midfielder Boufal struck the decisive goal midway through the first half while Lyon, denied a place in the top three, had both Christophe Jallet and Clement Grenier sent off.Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes was at full stretch to keep out Lille striker Yassine Benzia's early header before the home side took the lead in the 28th minute when Boufal won a free-kick within striking range and curled the ball into the top corner. The visitors had to wait until the 33rd minute before enjoying their first attempt on goal, with Maxwell Cornet firing just wide from the left edge of the penalty area and striker Alexandre Lacazette also threatening just before half-time.Lyon were reduced to 10 men on the hour mark when defender Jallet was shown his second yellow card for a foul on Eric Bautheac.Rachid Ghezzal forced Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama into a fine low save soon after and the visitors threatened again through Gaetan Perrin's shot, which was blocked.Enyeama denied Jeremy Morel and pulled off another smart save to keep out Lacazette's shot as Lyon's 10 men pressed for the equaliser. But any hopes Lyon had were dashed in the 88th minute when midfielder Grenier was booked for a second time following his challenge on Florent Balmont to reduce the visitors to nine men. There was still time for Lille midfielder Baltreauc to drag a shot wide from inside the area in the final minute, while in stoppage time Lyon substitute Zakarie Labidi fired an angled effort just wide.
