Mexico beats Chile with late Javier Hernandez winner

Javier Hernandez scored in the 86th minute to give Mexico a 1-0 friendly win against Chile in the team's final warm-up ahead of the Copa America Centenario.

Hernandez, 28, came on in the 78th minute and was the difference maker for Juan Carlos Osorio's team, who have won all seven of the new manager's matches in charge without conceding a goal.

Hirving Lozano laid the ball off for Miguel Layun, who swung in a cross from the right; Hernandez had peeled away from his marker at the far post and hammered his headed goal home.

Chile dominated much of the first half, but couldn't put one past Mexico goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera. Alexis Sanchez had Chile's best chance in the first 45 minutes, but his headed attempt veered to the left of Talavera's goal.

Mexico opens its Copa campaign against Uruguay on Sunday, June 5 at 8 p.m. ET in Phoenix, while defending champions Chile will take on Argentina on Monday, June 6 at 10 p.m. ET in Santa Clara in a replay of the 2015 final.
