Bordeaux 3-1 Lyon

Bordeaux inflicted a shock 3-1 defeat on Lyon after a blistering first-half performance at the Stade Matmut Atlantique.Wahbi Khazri opened the scoring in the 17th minute and his set-pieces led to goals for Jaroslav Plasil and Pablo shortly before half-time.Lyon, with star striker Alexandre Lacazette still troubled by a back injury and absent, lacked attacking impetus and could only manage Claudio Beavue's 78th-minute goal in reply.Bordeaux had been thumped 6-1 by Nice in midweek and languished dangerously close to the Ligue 1 relegation zone, but they bounced back in style against Hubert Fournier's title hopefuls.Cedric Carrasso saved Valbuena's free-kick before Bordeaux took the lead at the other end through Khazri's fourth league goal of the season.Diego Rolan picked out Khazri who timed his run perfectly to beat the offside trap, took the ball onto his right foot and beat keeper Anthony Lopes from an angle.Clement Chantome was booked for a foul on Valbuena before Bordeaux replaced Milan Gajic with Andre Poko with the game barely half an hour old.Corentin Tolisso missed the target from Valbuena's corner and Lyon were punished five minutes before half-time when Plasil showed him how to do it.Khazri delivered to the near post and the Czech midfielder glanced home his second goal in as many games, a superb start to his comeback following four months out injured.Amazingly, it got even better for Les Girondins in first-half stoppage time when Khazri swung in a dipping free-kick and the leaping Pablo poked home left-footed to give his side an emphatic lead.Carrasso kept out Jordan Ferri's shot early in the second half before Lyon sent on Rachid Ghezzal in place of Valbuena.Lopes denied Rolan one on one after Plasil's perfect pass, while Ghezzal was unable to find a way past Carrasso at the other end.Beauvue hammered a free-kick just wide before Steed Malbranque took the place of Tolisso. Pablo was almost immediately booked for a late tackle on the new man.The consolation goal came when Ghezzal sent over a corner and Beauvue made a run to the near post and finished with a firm downward header. There was to be no comeback, though, as Malbranque wasted a free-kick from a deep position and Henri Saivet and Nicolas Pallois combined to snuff out another Lyon attack. The result lifted Bordeaux to 12th in the table on 10 points, two fewer than sixth-placed Lyon.ends
