New-boys Leipzig stun Dortmund with narrow win

Leipzig marked their first home game in the Bundesliga with a 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday evening.

Naby Keita scored a late winner for the hosts on their top-flight debut at the Zentralstadion, with Scotland's Oliver Burke supplying the assist on his debut.

Chances were at a premium in an evenly-matched encounter, with Thomas Tuchel's men unable to build on their win over Mainz a fortnight ago and Leipzig extending their unbeaten start to their first-ever season in Germany's top flight with their first win.

Mario Gotze was included in the Dortmund line-up, making his second 'debut' for the club, and he was a lively outlet as Tuchel's men took the game to their hosts.

He set up Andre Schurrle for a good opening on the half-hour mark, but the former Chelsea winger's shot missed the target.

Timo Werner had the hosts' only shot of the first half but goalkeeper Roman Burki was untroubled by his effort.

The game trundled on in the second half with neither side managing to impose themselves, and the chances were drying up at both ends.

Scotland international Burke was sent on by Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuttl with 20 minutes remaining, making his Bundesliga debut to an extremely warm welcome from the Zentralstadion crowd.

One of his first involvements was to send a long pass through to Werner, whose angled shot was saved at his near post by Burki.

From the corner, Marcel Halstenberg's header was cleared off the line by Rafael Guerreiro before Schurrle's shot grazed the top of the crossbar at the other end.

With time running out, Burke picked up the ball inside the penalty area and his low cross was lifted into the roof of the net from close range by Keita, who snatched Leipzig's first-ever Bundesliga victory just five minutes after coming onto the field as a substitute.
