Chievo too good for Pescara

Chievo scored twice during the closing stages to secure a 2-0 away win over Pescara and keep in touch at the top of Serie A.

The Flying Donkeys, beaten by 2-0 at Napoli last week, made a positive start as Lucas Castro flashed an angled drive across goal before Nicolas Spolli headed over.

The Delfini threatened on 14 minutes when Rey Manaj forced Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino to tip his half-volley over and defender Cristiano Biraghi also went close.

Chievo, though, grabbed the lead on 76 minutes when Riccardo Meggiorini beat the offside trap, then Roberto Inglese added a second on the counter with five minutes left.
