Joshua Kimmich on target again as Bayern Munich topple PSV Eindhoven

Bayern Munich won for the first time in four games as Joshua Kimmich's scoring run continued in a 4-1 success over PSV Eindhoven.

Carlo Ancelotti's side had not recorded a victory since defeating Hamburg 1-0 at the end of September but they were far too strong for their Dutch opponents in this Champions League tie.

Thomas Muller broke the deadlock with his first Bayern goal in six games, Kimmich nodded in his seventh in his past eight appearances, Robert Lewandowski claimed his 15th for club and country this term and Arjen Robben rounded it off against his former club.

Having won his first eight games in charge, Ancelotti was defusing talk of a mini crisis before this fixture and his team responded with a dominant performance.

Muller, Robben and David Alaba all missed the target early on but it was always going to be a matter of time with the red shirts swarming forward at will.

After Lewandowski saw another attempt saved by Jeroen Zoet, Robben and Muller's quick thinking produced a 13th-minute opener.

The Dutchman saw nobody was alert to Muller at the near post from a corner and, although the German's first effort was denied by Zoet's legs, he shuffled the ball on to his left foot and found the roof of the net.

It ended a mini drought for the 27-year-old, his longest since April 2014, though he had scored a brace for his country during his goalless period for Bayern.

The home side were rampant and, after Hector Moreno flicked against his own post, Kimmich doubled the advantage to continue his purple patch.

Alaba's cross from the left looped up and deceived Zoet, allowing Kimmich to rush in and head in from on the line in the 21st minute.

The highly rated 21-year-old failed to score for either Bayern or Germany in 40 games last term, but has quickly established himself as a goal threat this time around.

However, PSV found a route back into the match before the break with a counter-attack as Manuel Neuer could only tip Luciano Narsingh's right-footed attempt into the net via his post.

They had two chances in the second half to level too, though an unmarked Luuk De Jong headed over from six yards out and Neuer produced a sublime save to thwart Gaston Pereiro's stab.

They were made to pay by Lewandowski, who had earlier screwed wide when well placed, as he headed in the rebound after Robben had been allowed to turn back on to his left foot and draw a save out of Zoet.

The ex-PSV winger got in the act himself before being substituted as a move which involved over 30 passes ended with the brilliant Thiago's dinked pass being headed over Zoet by Robben with six minutes remaining.
