Terry Kennedy earns Alfreton Town an FA Cup replay at Newport

Terry Kennedy scrambled in an equaliser 15 minutes from time to earn non-league Alfreton Town a deserved 1-1 draw with League Two strugglers Newport in the FA Cup first round.
The former Sheffield United trainee's far post tap-in from Adam Priestley's cross cancelled out Josh Sheehan's 65th-minute opener for the visitors, setting up a replay at Rodney Parade on Tuesday, November 15.
National League North side Alfreton may have been 40 places below Newport in the football pyramid at kick-off but they matched the Welsh side throughout.
Newport keeper Joe Day made a string of fine saves to deny Priestley in the first half, while his opposite number Fabian Spiess kept out efforts from Sheehan and Rhys Healey.
Sheehan, on loan from Swansea, found the bottom corner on 65 minutes after a great run from team-mate Sean Rigg to put Graham Westley's men on course for the second round.
But the determined hosts had other ideas and Kennedy's equaliser was fully merited.
Alfreton manager Nicky Law, who masterminded his side's defeat of National League side Gateshead in the previous round, urged his side forward in search of a winner but it was not forthcoming with both teams still in the hat for the second round draw.
