Morocco erase early deficit to defeat Togo in Group C

Morocco capitalised on a poor goalkeeping performance from Kossi Agassa to beat Togo 3-1 in Group C at the African Nations Cup.

The Lions, who secured their first points of the competition having lost to DR Congo in their opener, were behind early on after Mathieu Dossevi's brilliant opener.

However, they were level after 14 minutes as Agassa failed to collect a routine corner, leaving Aziz Bouhaddouz to head in, before Romain Saiss added a second.

Agassa then failed to keep out a speculative long-range effort from Youssef Ed-Nesyri as Morocco coasted to the three points.

Things started poorly for Herve Renard's side, after Dossevi started a counter-attack outside his own area with a clever flick, before being put through at the other end by Floyd Ayite and slotting coolly into the bottom corner.

The lead did not last long as Agassa found himself underneath a deep corner while tussling with Manuel da Costa, leaving Bouhaddouz free to nod home from inside the six-yard box.

Bouhaddouz could have added his second moments later but was tugged to the ground inside the area by Alaixys Romao, only for the referee to wave away any protests.

However Morocco finally had the lead from another set-piece, when Saiss flicked on from a pacy free kick, leaving Agassa helpless in goal.

Emmanuel Adebayor almost made it 2-2 before the break but Munir saved well from his goal-bound toe-poke, before the former Arsenal and Tottenham forward headed over from close range shortly after the break.

En-Nesyri completed the win in the 72nd minute, with Agassa unable to deal with a bouncing shot and only managing to palm it into the goal.
