Faris Ramli scores double as Home United grab S.League win in Brunei

Home United picked up an emphatic 4-1 away victory over an out-of-sorts Brunei DPMM at Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium on Friday night to keep the pressure on S.League leaders Albirex Niigata (S).

DPMM ended with just nine men on the field as they continued their woeful season at second-from-bottom, with just five points from 15 matches.

Faris Ramli got the Protectors going in the 15th minute by tapping home Sirina Camara's left-wing cross.

Aidil Sharin's side then doubled their lead three minutes later. Croatian marksman Stipe Plazibat converted from the spot for his 31st goal in all competitions after Shamil Sharif was brought down in the area.

DPMM pulled one back on the half-hour mark, with Brazilian marksman Rafael Ramazotti evading two challenges before poking past Hassan Sunny.

However, the away side restored their two-goal advantage in the 38th minute.

A stunning breakaway led to Faris turning home a cross from the right for his second goal of the night and 10th in five games against DPMM this season.

Steve Kean's DPMM were then reduced to 10 men midway through the second half.

Defender Hazwan Hamzah received a second yellow, but was allowed to play on for an extra two minutes until referee Nathan Chan was reminded by his fourth official to brandish a red card.

Home completed the rout 12 minutes from time. Faris capped off an excellent display by crossing for substitute Khairul Nizam to tap home.

To compound matters, the Wasps ended with just nine men on the pitch when Chilean defender Vincent Salas was given a straight red for a dangerous challenge.

The resounding victory meant Home leapfrogged Tampines Rovers to go second, but they are still 13 points behind Albirex Niigata (S).

The White Swans edged bottom side Garena Young Lions 1-0 via captain Shuto Inaba's rasping long-range drive in a televised game on the same night.

That was despite being reduced to 10 men in the 51st minute when striker Tsubasa Sano was shown a red card.
