Man City hit Burnley for five in FA Cup to seal progress

Manchester City booked their place in the FA Cup fifth round with a straightforward 5-0 victory over fellow Premier League side Burnley.

Pep Guardiola fielded a near full strength side as he looked to remain on course for the one trophy he is yet to win in English football, while Burnley boss Sean Dyche made seven changes from the 0-0 draw with Watford at the weekend.

And City took the lead on 23 minutes when Gabirel Jesus fired past Nick Pope from inside the area, having been set up by Danilo.

Despite dominating proceedings, City failed to increase their lead in the first half. Dyche brought Jack Cork on at half-time, but saw his side 2-0 behind within seven minutes.

Bernardo Silva found the bottom corner after being set up by Kevin De Bruyne.

And De Bruyne got in on the act just past the hour mark as he fired home from outside the box following an exquisite passing sequence.

The Belgium international also had a hand in the fourth goal as his effort was deflected into his own net by Burnley defender Kevin Long. And Long then gave away a silly penalty for substitute Sergio Aguero to slot home the fifth.
