Jamaica, El Salvador finish scoreless at Gold Cup

Jamaica and El Salvador played to a scoreless draw Friday at Houston in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and they remained tied for first place in Group C.

Both El Salvador and Jamaica are 1-0-1, good for four points. Each has a plus-1 goal differential, but Jamaica holds the edge in the second tiebreaker, total goals scored, 3-1.

The other two teams in the group, Honduras and Curacao, were set to play later Friday night in Houston after having lost their opening games.

Jamaica had a 7-5 edge in shots Friday, including a 2-1 advantage in shots on net. The Reggae Boyz also possessed the ball for 55 percent of the contest but couldn't break through for a goal.

Group C play concludes Tuesday in Los Angeles, where Jamaica will oppose Curacao before Honduras will face El Salvador.
