Sterling scores twice as Manchester City advance to Carabao Cup quarters

Manchester City beat Burnley 3-0 to advance to the quarterfinals on the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

City came into the match off the heels of a 5-2 drubbing at the hands of Leicester at the weekend, but were lifted by a Raheem Sterling  brace and another goal from 20-year-old Ferran Torres.

Sterling opened the scoring 10 minutes from half-time when he confidently stroked a low Benjamin Mendy cross past a helpless Bailey Peacock-Farrell in the Burnley goal from inside the box.

The former Liverpool man bagged his second four minutes after the restart with an easy control and finish into an empty net after being found all alone in the six-yard box by a Torres pass.

Torres then got one for himself in the 65th -- the young winger slotting home with his right foot after Sterling turned provider.

The quarterfinal draw will take place on Thursday, Oct. 1, following Liverpool's match against Arsenal.
