Franck Boli allows Timbers to salvage draw vs. FC Dallas

Franck Boli scored two minutes into second-half stoppage time to allow the Portland Timbers to split the points via a 1-1 draw with FC Dallas on Saturday in a Western Conference match in Frisco, Texas.

Boli, playing his first game with the Timbers after being signed this week from the Hungarian side Ferencvaros, entered as a substitute in the 86th minute and wasted little time making an impact. He took a pass from Dairon Asprilla on the dead run and ripped a left-footed shot past Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes to tie the match in the 92nd minute.

Facundo Quignon had given Dallas (2-2-2, eight points) the lead with a goal scored from a scrum in front of the net in the 74th minute. Quignon was in the right place at the right time after a pass into the box by Jesus Ferreira bounced off a defender before falling to the foot of Dallas' Geovane Jesus.

Jesus deflected the ball to Quignon, who switched it to his left foot before uncorking a shot past Portland goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic, who had no time to attempt a save.

Dallas has now won or tied 11 of its past 12 games overall at home. Portland has not won since the first week of the season.

The Timbers (1-3-2, five points) nearly tied the match in the 77th minute when Juan Mosquera was alone on Paes deep in the goal mouth after a pass from Claudio Bravo. Paes dove to his left to make the instinctive save and keep Dallas in the lead.

The Timbers had the best chance to score in a first half that was played mostly in the middle of the field when Santiago Moreno clanged a shot off the crossbar at the 30-minute mark after a pass deep into the box by Mosquera.

Dallas' first shot on goal came in the 37th minute as Jesus' header from the center of the box after a crossing pass from Ferreira was saved by Ivacic. Two minutes later, Alan Velasco shot from outside the box and was stopped in the right corner by Ivacic, keeping the match scoreless.
