Vladimir Weiss dropped from Slovakia squad after drink driving allegation

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia -- Slovakia midfielder Vladimir Weiss has been dropped from the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Scotland following police allegations of drink driving.

Slovakia coach Jan Kozak announced his decision Monday. Slovakia face Slovenia Saturday in Ljubljana and play Scotland at home in Trnava three days later.

Kozak says Weiss has been left out temporarily and he will make his final decision when the police investigation is over.

He adds: "I'm really sad about what happened because I really like Vlado as a player, he has been very useful for us and helped us in many matches."

Weiss has not commented on Sunday's incident but was scheduled to meet the team later Monday. His lawyer denies any wrongdoing.
