Hoffenheim's Kevin Volland angry over Borussia Dortmund transfer story

Hoffenheim forward Kevin Volland has slammed a media report claiming he is close to joining Borussia Dortmund.

Volland, 22, called the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung's claim that he is already looking for a house in Dortmund "clumsy journalism" and "wilfully false."

The Germany under-21 captain, who joined Hoffenheim three years ago, has been linked with a move away from the club for around €20 million.

However, Volland used his Facebook account to write: "The story about my alleged viewing of a flat in Dortmund is a tragic mix of clumsy journalism and wilfully false allegations."

Hoffenheim were also quick to reject the rumour, with director Alexander Rosen writing on the club's Facebook page that it was an "outlandish allegation," adding: "The dimension of unprofessionalism in this case is both remarkable and regrettable because it deflects attention from the basics as well as casting an otherwise flawless sportsman in a bad light."
