Valencia sign Rodrigo from Benfica on four-year contract

Valencia have completed the signing of Rodrigo from Benfica for an undisclosed fee.

Rodrigo, 24, spent last season on loan at Valencia and has now put pen to paper on a four-year contract.

The forward, who made 31 Liga appearances and scored three goals as Los Che as they booked a return to the Champions League, started his professional career with Real Madrid before moving to Benfica, and had a spell on loan at Premier League club Bolton Wanderers in 2010-11.

"After a year in Valencia I feel very happy and eager to be better every day. Now we have to think about the Champions League and get into the group stage," Rodrigo told Valencia's official website.

"I've been fortunate to play in this competition with Benfica and now I want to do so with Valencia.

"My ultimate goal is to help Valencia to be a better team, to achieve all the club's sporting goals and, above all, be a very competitive side.

"Individually, I hope to have more luck in front of goal, but I'm sure that with daily work in training everything will go well.

"Also, with the help of the fans who have been so impressive throughout the year, I'm sure we will go very far."

Rodrigo made his full debut for Spain in October when coming on as a sub in a 4-0 win in Luxembourg in a Euro 2016 qualifier.

Valencia signed Andre Gomes from Benfica on a permanent basis on Friday, with the player also having been on loan at the Mestalla last season.
