AC Milan will sign defender Jose Mauri from Parma subject to the player passing a medical.

Mauri, 19, arrived in Milan on Monday to undergo tests, with the Serie A club confirming his arrival on their website.

"Jose Mauri is on his way to the La Madonnina clinic from the Milan Linate Airport," a statement said.

"Once there, the young midfielder will have his medical. In addition to the Milan medical staff, the Milan Channel are also on hand ready to capture the moment."

Upon arrival at Linate airport, Mauri gave an interview to Sky Sport Italia in which he spoke of his delight at the impending move.

"I'm emotional," he said. "We haven't done the medical yet, but Milan is a dream for me and I hope they will help me grow.

"They are one of the biggest clubs in the world -- the one which has won the most titles together with Boca Juniors. My Rossoneri idol is Gennaro Gattuso, while my overall idol is Javier Mascherano.

"[AC Milan's general manager Adriano] Galliani called me while I was in Argentina. It was a very big call for me. I was born ready, which is what I always tell my agent."

Fiorentina had also been pursuing the Argentinean defender, who has left Parma following their bankruptcy and enforced relegation to the fifth division of Italian football. He is set to sign a four-year contract.

Mauri, who also holds an Italian passport and has represented Italy at under-17 level, played 35 games for Parma last season, scoring two goals.
