Wolfsburg sporting executive Klaus Allofs has said Inter Milan "can't afford" winger Ivan Perisic.
Perisic, 26, has been linked with a summer transfer to Serie A side Inter, with the player's agent saying he is "very interested" in a switch.
Inter are looking for a replacement for Xherdan Shaqiri ahead of his transfer to Premier League team Stoke City.
Speaking to kicker, Allofs confirmed Inter's interest in the Croatia international but said he is doubtful if the club are able to meet their demands.
"The club, which is interested, can't afford him," Allofs, who reportedly wants €20 million for Perisic, said. "Nothing fits."
Perisic is under contract at Wolfsburg until 2017 although the club could look to improve his terms in order to match Inter's offer.
