Deportivo La Coruna have agreed a deal to sign former Newcastle midfielder Jonas Gutierrez, subject to a medical.
Gutierrez, 32, will undergo his assessment before joining the Primera Division club as a free agent, having been released by the Magpies in the summer.
Deportivo announced news of the deal on Tuesday, although they have not released information regarding the length of the former Argentina international's contract.
"Real Club Deportivo and Jonas Gutierrez have reached an agreement for the player, currently a free agent, to join the club," a club statement read. "The transfer is subject to the player passing a medical.
"The player is currently in Argentina and will travel in the next few days to A Coruna."
Gutierrez made 187 appearances for Newcastle -- having arrived from Mallorca in 2008 -- and had a brief loan spell at Norwich City during the 2013-14 campaign.
The midfielder returned to action for the Magpies in March after more than a year away following a battle against cancer, while he scored on the final day of last season to help the club retain their Premier League status.
