Manchester City sign Luke Brattan, send him to Bolton on loan

Manchester City have signed Luke Brattan on a free transfer and sent him on loan to Bolton Wanderers, according to the Championship club.

Former Australia youth international Brattan, 25, left Brisbane Roar in the summer when the A-League club failed to pay required superannuation contributions on his behalf.

The midfielder, who has been linked with a move to Premier League leaders City for several weeks, has now completed a move to the Etihad Stadium and has been sent straight out on loan to Bolton.

Bolton announced that Brattan, who was born in Hull, will remain at the Macron Stadium until Jan. 3.

Brattan had previously told Fox Sports News that he had come to Manchester City's attention when playing against their sister club Melbourne City.

"There was someone watching a game in Melbourne, when I played for Brisbane obviously against Melbourne," he had previously said. "I must have had a good game and it sort of developed from there."

Brattan, who was named in the PFA A-League Team of the Season for 2013-14, had been training at Manchester City's academy.

"It's amazing -- I never thought say five years ago that I'd be in the spot that I'm in now," Brattan added to Fox. "I'm grateful for it and I won't take anything for granted."

City have also allowed midfielder Bruno Zuculini to join Middlesbrough on a month-long loan deal.
