Eintracht Frankfurt's Alexander Meier rejected deal from Chinese club

Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Alexander Meier has revealed that he turned down an offer from China.

Meier, 33, scored his second hat trick of the Bundesliga season on Sunday when he helped his side to a 3-2 win over last season's runners-up Wolfsburg.

He has now scored 111 goals for the club he joined from Hamburg in 2004 and hopes to add many more during the 18 months he has left on his current deal.

In Bild, Meier confirmed on Tuesday that he turned down the chance to earn a total of €7 million in China, where a top-five club hoped to lure him with a two-year deal.

"It's true, there was an offer," he said. "And I have chatted to [Frankfurt CEO Heribert] Bruchhagen and the coach [Armin Veh], but after about one minute it was off the table."

Last season's top scorer in the Bundesliga has struck 10 league goals in 14 matches this term.

The Frankfurt captain has hit double figures three times since the club's return to the Bundesliga in the 2012-13 season.
