Tottenham's Alex Pritchard completes West Brom loan switch

Tottenham midfielder Alex Pritchard has joined West Bromwich Albion on loan until the end of the season.

After impressing on loan at Championship outfit Brentford last season, Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino said he expected Pritchard to be part of his first team squad this term.

But the 22-year-old injured his ankle ligaments on England under-21 duty in June and he underwent surgery in the October after failing to fully recover.

The injury has restricted Pritchard to just one appearance for Spurs this season -- a five-minute cameo in the 0-0 draw with Everton in August -- but he is now fully fit and could make be available to make his West Brom debut against Swansea at the Hawthorns on Tuesday night.

"It's been a hectic few hours - I was close to going elsewhere - but when this came about I didn't hesitate to come here," said Pritchard. "I'm here and excited to get going.

"I spoke to Tony Pulis and coaches and was told to do my best, work hard and make an impression. I'm an attacking player, I like to get on the ball, make things happen and have an eye for goal.

"I can play on the wing or centrally - it's a dream to play in the Premier League and I hope I get that chance."

WBA's joint-assistant head-coach Darren Kemp added: "We're delighted to have him here - he's a bright young player. He's had a couple of loans at Swindon and Brentford and done very well.

"He's 22 now and he's ready the make an impact in the Premier League. I saw a lot of him at Swindon and Brentford."

Pritchard came through the academy at Tottenham and made his debut under former boss Tim Sherwood on the final day of the 2013-14 season.
