Middlesbrough sign defender Ritchie De Laet on loan from Leicester City

Leicester City defender Ritchie De Laet has joined Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season.

De Laet, 27, has made 14 appearances for Leicester this season but has not started a league game since September.

As such, he has been allowed to join Boro as they bid to secure promotion from the Championship.

De Laet's first English club was Stoke, and he subsequently joined Manchester United -- from whom he spent time on loan at Sheffield United, Preston, Portsmouth and Norwich -- before moving on to Leicester.

Aitor Karanka's side also brought in Jordan Rhodes from Blackburn on deadline day as well as Julien De Sart from Standard Liege.
