Havard Nordtveit urged to make Borussia Monchengladbach decision

Borussia Monchengladbach have issued an ultimatum to Havard Nordtveit as speculation continues over his future.

The club's sporting director Max Eberl has said Monchengladbach want Nordtveit, 25, to decide his future by the end of the month.

The Norway international has entered the final few months of his current deal at the Borussia Park and has so far not agreed to an extension amid links with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund in recent months.

The versatile defensive player has made 159 Bundesliga appearances for Monchengladbach since joining from Arsenal in January 2011, playing a role in the club's resurgence in recent years.

Speaking after Saturday's 1-0 derby win over Cologne, Max Eberl issued an ultimatum to the Norwegian, and told reporters: "February should not end without a decision."

Last week, Eberl said the club remain optimistic about reaching an agreement with Nordtveit.

"We have made him a very, very good offer, and I am still optimistic that we retain Howie," he told Sport Bild.

At the weekend, he reiterated that Gladbach hope Nordtveit opts to stay at Borussia Park. "That's our wish," Eberl said.

Also last week, Nordtveit, who previously appeared to have indicated he could make a decision very soon, said he will "see about the rest" when his agent returns from his holidays.
