Arsenal, Tottenham target Havard Nordtveit to decide Gladbach future

Norway international Havard Nordtveit is to decide his future by Monday, amid fresh reports of a return to Arsenal.

Nordtveit, 25, has entered the final few months of his current deal at Borussia Monchengladbach -- who have offered him a new contract -- but until now he has not agreed an extension.

Earlier this week the club's sporting director Max Eberl issued an ultimatum to him to decide his future by the end of the month and, when asked about the club's ultimatum, Nordtveit said that if need be he will follow Eberl's orders.

"If the sporting director asks for it, I will certainly stick to it," he said about the ultimatum to decide his future this month. "But right now we are fully focused on the Augsburg match."

The versatile defensive specialist joined Gladbach from Arsenal in January 2011 and has played a big role in the club's resurgence in recent years.

He has made 159 Bundesliga appearances since for the Foals, but it is unclear whether he will add many more or opt to leave Borussia Park on a free transfer.

German tabloid Bild reported on Thursday that his old club Arsenal have joined the line of interested clubs from the Premier League, alongside Tottenham and Leicester, with previous reports suggesting that Liverpool and domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the Norwegian.

Borussia Monchengladbach are one of several teams targeting a top four finish in Bundesliga. They are currently fifth on 35 points and only trail third-placed Hertha Berlin by one, while eighth-placed Wolfsburg have picked up 31 points and could still pip them to European qualification.
