Torino sign defender Lorenzo De Silvestri from Sampdoria

Torino completed the signing of defender Lorenzo De Silvestri from Sampdoria on Thursday for an undisclosed fee.

The Italy international began his career at Lazio before spending five years under contract at Fiorentina, then sealed a permanent move to Sampdoria in 2014.

De Silvestri told Torino's website that he was happy to reunite with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.

"I'm happy to return to working with him after my previous experiences at Fiorentina and Sampdoria, because his game has often enhanced my characteristics and I'll do everything to make that happen at Toro too," the 28-year-old said.

"I'm very fired up, I thank president [Urbano] Cairo, director [Gianluca] Petrachi and everyone at the club for the trust they've placed in me."

It was a busy day for Torino, who also added Leandro Castan on loan from Sampdoria. The defender still belongs to parent club Roma.

With the addition of the two defenders, Torino loaned out two more, with Gaston Silva moving to Granada, and Pontus Jansson joining Leeds United.
