Fiorentina's Gonzalo Rodriguez would be open to AC Milan talks - agent

Fiorentina captain Gonzalo Rodriguez could reunite with Vincenzo Montella at AC Milan if the Viola do not put a better contract offer on the table, his agent has said.

Rodriguez's Fiorentina deal is up for renewal in the summer, but the defender has rejected the Serie A club's first offer of a one-year extension.

The 32-year-old's agent Raul Iglesias says that the terms were not acceptable and while he insists talks will continue, he has now started to take a look elsewhere for his client.

"I came to Italy to reach an agreement with Fiorentina," Iglesias told calciomercato.com. "We're not asking the earth, but just the same conditions he is currently on. Gonzalo has always put his career with Fiorentina first, but we are not going to renew on these conditions.

"There has been a lot of praise from the club for his performances and his goals, but [sporting director Pantaleo] Corvino has offered us an extra year with a 25 percent cut in his current wages. I've come back to Argentina now, but if this is the only offer they are going to make, we are not going to renew his contract."

Rodriguez has recently been linked with a switch to Milan, having refused to discuss a move there in the summer when former Fiorentina boss Montella wanted to sign him.

Given the current situation, however, Iglesias insists he would not rule out listening to what the Rossoneri have to offer, while he says he has already received enquiries about Rodriguez.

"We didn't have any contact with the Rossoneri last summer, but we could speak to them from February," he said. "Fiorentina remains Gonzalo's first choice because he is very grateful to them and has always been happy with the Viola and in Florence, and it is for this reason that we did not want to listen to any offers in the summer.

"We'll wait a few months now and then we will be free to speak to anybody. Of course I am sure he would be happy to work for Montella again, and I think it would be the same for the coach. They had a great time together, but I repeat we have not had any contact with them.

"We have received four enquiries, but Milan -- as things stand -- are not among them. I can only say that two of them are European clubs and two are Argentinian. Fiorentina have a period of exclusivity to negotiate with him up to February, and then we will be free to talk to other clubs."
