Nancy's Clement Lenglet completes move to Sevilla for €5 million fee

French defender Clement Lenglet has completed a move to Sevilla from Nancy, the La Liga club confirmed on Thursday.

Lenglet, 21, agreed a contract until June 2021 and sealed a €5 million move after undergoing a medical.

He said on his new club's website: "I'm very pleased and very happy to be at this club, a great club with great players.

"Jorge Sampaoli is a great coach. I saw him when he was coach of Chile and of Sevilla, and I think he's a top coach. My first objective is to play, and play very well."

France under-21 international Lenglet has made 18 Ligue 1 starts this season and will become Sevilla's first signing of the winter.

Coach Jorge Sampaoli said this week that the player "has a promising future and we have been monitoring him for some time."

He will be a replacement for French defender Timothee Kolodziejczak, who left Sevilla to sign with Borussia Monchengladbach a day earlier.

The Bundesliga club said the 25-year-old, who has played for France's youth sides but could still switch to Poland at senior level, signed a deal until June 2021 on Wednesday.

Sampaoli is keen to add a central defender, with his team involved in La Liga and Copa del Rey action this month before resuming their Champions League campaign.

He has relied heavily on Adil Rami, Nicolas Pareja and Gabriel Mercado.
