Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson's Palace move falls through - sources

Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson's move to Crystal Palace has fallen through after he failed to agree personal terms, sources close to both clubs have told ESPN FC.

Jenkinson, 24, is keen on a move this month as he wants regular first-team football, but the deal has fallen through despite Arsenal and Palace agreeing a fee.

Palace boss Sam Allardyce, who had worked with Jenkinson during his time in charge of West Ham, had said the deal was "hanging in the balance" earlier this week, adding: "While we appear to have an agreement with Arsenal, that agreement with the player hasn't reached a conclusion."

Allardyce had previously made clear his desire to improve his defence this month, but it remains to be seen whether the Eagles will seek to revive the deal.

West Ham, Watford and Aston Villa have also shown an interest in Jenkinson and they could now make a move for the defender, who face competition from Hector Bellerin, Gabriel Paulista, Mathieu Debuchy and Ainsley Maitland-Niles for the right-back slot at Arsenal.
