Crystal Palace won't offer contract to Martin Caceres after trial - sources

Crystal Palace have opted against signing former Juventus defender Martin Caceres, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.

Caceres, 29, had linked up with Palace for training last weekend so that manager Sam Allardyce could assess his fitness levels.

The Uruguayan can sign for any club outside of the transfer window as a free agent, but after Palace snapped up Mamadou Sakho on loan from Liverpool just before the close of the transfer window the club now have enough cover in defence and will not offer a contract to Caceres.

He has been unattached since leaving Juve last summer when his contract expired and he will now be forced to look elsewhere for his next club.
