Jesus Navas in line for new contract from Manchester City - source

Jesus Navas is set to be offered a new deal by Manchester City after impressing manager Pep Guardiola with his recent performances at right-back, a source has told ESPN FC, amid interest from former club Sevilla.

Navas, 31, is one of six senior first-team players at City who are out of contract at the end of the season.

Sevilla president Jose Castro has said the club have made contact regarding the Spain international, while Serie A side Roma are also reported to be interested in signing him for free at the end of the season.

But Navas, who joined City in 2013 from Sevilla for £14.9 million, has started six of the last seven matches as a right-back or wing-back and has made a big impression with his speed and ability to supplement attacks, prompting City to line up a new deal for him.

Guardiola is set to bring in a new first-choice right-back in the summer but Navas is seen as an ideal backup, casting doubt over the futures of Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna, who are also out of contract at the end of the season.

As well as Zabaleta and Sagna, the long-term futures of Yaya Toure, Gael Clichy and Willy Caballero, whose deals also come to an end in July, are all still to be resolved.

Guardiola has said that he will wait until the end of the season before making a decision on who will be offered new contracts.

England under-19 defender Tosin Adarabioyo is another player who is out of contract at the end of the season, although City will receive a compensation payment if he joins a new club.

The Manchester-born centre-back has made just three appearances this season and Everton are reportedly interested in signing the 19-year-old.
