Nani determined to remain at Valencia despite rumours of summer sale

Nani has said he wants to stay at Valencia amid growing speculation that he will be sold in the summer.

The former Manchester United player joined from Fenerbahce shortly after winning Euro 2016 with Portugal and has two years left on his contract.

Reports in Spain have claimed the club are unhappy with his recent performances, and Sport said they would look to sell him at the end of the season in the hope of recouping some of the €8.5 million spent on him.

But Nani told Radio Marca: "My idea is to stay here. I want to continue, I have a contract with Valencia.

"I knew when I came here that I was joining a big club, and I still believe that to be the case."

Nani spent two months sidelined with a thigh injury before returning to action on April 16 and said: "I feel good and I'm eager to do well. I have worked hard to return to playing.

"There are two games left and I want to leave a good image at the end of the season and think about next year in the best possible way."

Valencia have had three head coaches in a turbulent season and Voro Gonzalez is in charge for the remainder of the campaign. Nani said: "I'm looking forward to experiencing that Valencia side I was accustomed to seeing when I was at Manchester," Nani said.

"I want to score goals, enjoy football at Valencia and win more games. We have to play at a higher level and something has to change next season."

Valencia are planning for next season and have reportedly chosen Marcelino, formerly of Villarreal, as their new coach.

Nani said: "I don't know anything about next season, if he (is or not the next coach.

"We have to wait and see and hope that whoever comes has all the luck in the world."

Nani is not the only Valencia player under contract to have been linked with an exit this summer, with goalkeeper Diego Alves, defender Joao Cancelo and midfielders Enzo Perez and Dani Parejo also reportedly set to be placed on the transfer list.

Superdeporte reports that AC Milan winger Keisuke Honda is the club's main summer transfer target.
