Sevilla captain Vicente Iborra agrees Leicester City move

Sevilla have reached an agreement to sell their captain Vicente Iborra to Leicester City, pending a medical, according to the Spanish club.

Iborra, 29, is set to join the 2015-16 Premier League champions in a reported €14 million transfer after four seasons with the La Liga side.

A Sevilla club statement said: "Sevilla FC and Leicester City FC have reached a preliminary agreement for the transfer of Vicente Iborra to the British club pending the player's medical and his signature on the contract.

"Once the transfer is done, the player will return to Seville to bid farewell to the fans."

Sevilla rewarded Iborra with an improved contract last September, tying him to the club until June 2020.

The Spanish defensive midfielder scored seven goals and set up two more in 31 league appearances last season, 12 as a starter, to help the Andalusian outfit finish fourth in La Liga and clinch a Champions League qualifying spot.

Iborra moved to Sevilla in the summer of 2013 from home club Levante and won three Europa League titles at the Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.

Sevilla hailed the contributions of Iborra during his time at the club, saying: "172 games and 30 goals are numbers of a colossus but more than his achievements, what will remain in our memory will be his leadership on and off the pitch, just as the dignity he showed while wearing the captain's armband of Sevilla FC."
