LIVERPOOL -- Liverpool have accepted a £5 million bid from Lazio for Lucas Leiva, sources have told ESPN FC.
Lucas has been permission given to travel and discuss personal terms with the Serie A side and undergo a medical ahead of a possible move to Italy.
The versatile midfielder is in the final 12 months of his Liverpool current and has faced an uncertain future after Jurgen Klopp admitted in May that he had "no idea" whether Lucas had played his last game for Liverpool.
The 30-year-old, who is currently Liverpool's longest-serving player, had widely been linked with a return to Gremio, with their club president Odorico Roman confirming his interest in the player.
Lucas came close to leaving Liverpool in January after the club told him they would not stand in his way amid interest from Inter Milan due to his loyal service.
He has made 346 appearances during his decade at Liverpool, last season playing 31 times in midfield and central defence.
Lucas was absent from Liverpool's 1-1 friendly draw against Wigan on Friday, and afterward Klopp said he was unsure what the future held for the Brazilian.
"I'm not 100 percent sure what I can say about this because I'm not exactly sure how it is in this moment," Klopp said.
"But I think in all respect for Lucas and his fantastic time at Liverpool, we should talk about facts and not about rumours. We have to wait. I'm not sure.
"Yes, maybe something, maybe not. That's pretty much like last year and half a year ago, isn't it? We will see."
