West Brom ask £30m for Jonny Evans, target Mamadou Sakho - sources

West Bromwich Albion want £30 million for Manchester City and Leicester target Jonny Evans and have identified Liverpool's Mamadou Sakho as a replacement, sources have told ESPN FC.

The news comes after West Brom rejected a £21m offer from Leicester City for former Manchester United defender Evans.

Evans, 29, has linked up with the Northern Ireland squad ahead of Friday's World Cup qualifier against San Marino but is expected to leave The Hawthorns before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Manchester City have already had an £18m offer turned down, prompting Leicester to make their move over the weekend with a bid potentially rising to £23m.

That offer was dismissed as "derisory" by West Brom, but Manchester City are expected to go close to their valuation this week, with West Brom preparing to move for out-of-favour centre-back Sakho as a replacement.

Evans, who has not played for West Brom this season due to a hamstring problem, is wanted by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola to bolster his defensive options and increase the number of home-grown players in the Champions League squad.

With Pulis accepting that Evans is likely to move to the Etihad if West Brom's valuation is met, efforts are being made to scupper Crystal Palace's attempts to re-sign Sakho.

West Brom could also take Eliaquim Mangala, out of favour at the Etihad, as part of the Evans deal if Mangala is prepared to take a drop in wages to move to The Hawthorns.
