Marseille interested in Arsenal striker Lucas Perez - sources

Arsenal striker Lucas Perez has emerged as a target for Marseille as they look to bring in a new forward before the close of the transfer window, sources close to the French club have told ESPN FC.

Perez's future at Arsenal has been the subject of speculation all summer with the player seeking a move away after falling out of favour under Arsene Wenger.

The 28-year-old had his No. 9 shirt taken off him for summer signing Alexandre Lacazette without even being consulted.

Perez has not featured for Arsenal this season and he only started four games after Christmas last year after failing to establish himself in Wenger's plans.

Perez has been desperate to leave Arsenal this summer with his former club Deportivo La Coruna keen to bring him back to Spain.

Arsenal are willing to let Perez leave, but they have been holding out for as high a fee as possible as they looked to recoup as much of the £17 million they paid for the striker last summer.

Marseille have now joined the chase for Perez and have enquired to Arsenal about signing the Spaniard.

Marseille have been searching for a new striker all summer only to be frustrated in their attempts to land their top targets and now they have switched their attentions to Perez as they look to beat Deportivo to his signature.
