Rafa Mir set for Wolves move after Valencia reject Real Madrid offer

Valencia forward Rafa Mir is on the verge of joining Championship-title chasers Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to reports in Spain.

A Real Madrid target, Mir refused to sign a new contract with Valencia last year and will become a free agent at the end of the season when his current deal ends.

Valencia reportedly turned down Real's €500,000 bid for the 20-year-old earlier this week and have since accepted a €2m offer from Wolves.

Superdeporte said Mir was at Valencia's training session on Tuesday to say goodbye to his teammates and he is expected to arrive in England in the next 24 hours to sign a four-year contract with Wolves.

A youth product of Valencia, Mir was reportedly set to join Real Madrid in the winter transfer window after he was said to have reached verbal agreement with Los Blancos last year.

A move to Molineux will see Mir reunited with coach Nuno Espirito Santo, who gave the Murcia-born player his Champions League debut at Valencia in November 2015. Mir has played for Valencia's reserves this season.
