Liverpool's Jon Flanagan joins Bolton, Lazar Markovic to Anderlecht on loan

Lazar Markovic and Jon Flanagan have both left Liverpool on loan until the end of the season.

Markovic will spend the rest of the 2017-18 campaign with Belgian side Anderlecht, while Flanagan has moved to Bolton Wanderers in the Championship.

Markovic, 23, has played just 34 times for Liverpool since his £20 million transfer from Benfica in the summer of 2014.

This will be the fourth club he has joined on loan while under contract at Anfield, having also had temporary stints at Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon and Hull City.

The winger's situation was being monitored by Wolfsburg and Swansea City as the transfer deadline approached, but a source has told ESPN FC that he turned those clubs down due to a lack of guaranteed game-time as hopes to secure a place in Serbia's World Cup squad.

Meanwhile, Flanagan has made just one first-team appearance for Liverpool this season -- the League Cup tie at Leicester City back in September.

Earlier this month, Flanagan was sentenced to 40 hours of unpaid work and a 12-month community order for assaulting his girlfriend.

Liverpool stood by their academy graduate, while condemning his actions and punishing him internally.
