ANN ARBOR -- Marko Grujic wants to be a Liverpool player for the long-term future despite other clubs registering an interest in signing him on permanent or loan deals.
Grujic, who is in America on Liverpool's preseason tour, spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City as achieved promotion to the Premier League.
A source has told ESPN FC that Lazio have informed Liverpool they are keen to sign the Serbia international permanently.
Meanwhile, Cardiff boss Neil Warnock is hoping to secure another loan spell in South Wales for the 22-year-old year-old, but recently said he "won't wait forever" and had another potential signing lined up.
Speaking at Michigan Stadium ahead of Liverpool's International Champions Cup meeting with Manchester United, Grujic told reporters he was yet to discuss his future with Jurgen Klopp or sporting director Michael Edwards.
"I didn't speak yet with Michael or the gaffer," he said. "But yes, I want to be a Liverpool player in the next few years.
"We signed a few really, really good players -- big names. The boys adapted to us and the atmosphere in the changing room is really nice. We just keep improving every day."
On Warnock's comments, he added: "It doesn't mean some pressure to me. It's just good to hear that from the manager of the club because that means he really wants me in his team.
"We will see. We have a lot of time, in August it's the end of the transfer window. We have time, no rush. We will see what is the best for my development, for the club and for everyone."
Grujic became Klopp's first permanent signing as Liverpool manager when he joined from Red Star Belgrade in January 2016, making 14 first-team appearances since.
In January he was sent out on loan to Cardiff, where he played 14 times, and now believes he is ready for regular action in England's top flight.
"I feel better physically and in some technical attributes as well," Grujic said. "I went there to get the game-time and most of the time I was on the pitch, so we will see.
"Even when I came to Liverpool I felt ready to play Premier League football. I'm even more [ready now] because I played some games. I'm looking forward to this season. It can be big for me and the club.
"I got match sharpness. I enjoyed the games, they helped me to improve my development for me. But I'm now concentrated on [the United] game and the next few weeks to show my best."
