Sources: Sturridge turns down Trabzonspor offer

Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has turned down an offer from Turkish side Trabzonspor, sources have told ESPN FC.

The Super Lig side offered the England international a two-year deal but have had trouble convincing him to move to Turkey.

Sturridge, who was released by Liverpool at the end of last season, has never played outside of England in his career, and it has proved a sticking point for Trabzonspor.

The club is considering making an improved offer after selling Yusuf Yazici to Lille for €16.5 million.

Trabzonspor signed Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth on a two-year loan deal last week but have made signing an additional striker a priority.

The Turkish club are concerned that Istanbul-based Besiktas and Galatasaray have expressed an interest in Sturridge as well.

Istanbul is a more attractive destination for a foreign player as it is a cosmopolitan city.
