The winter transfer window is closed, but now it's time to look ahead to the summer! Here are the new rumours floating around Europe's big leagues and beyond.

TOP STORY: Arsenal eye £23m move for Kokcu

Arsenal are looking to land Feyenoord playmaker Orkun Kokcu before the summer, reports the Daily Mail.

Kokcu, 19, is one of Europe's most highly rated young midfielders and the Gunners are looking to spend around £23 million before his price increases after Euro 2020.

The Turkey international has been identified by Arsenal technical director Edu as "a priority signing for the club ahead of next season."

Of course if the club do sign Kokcu then it opens up questions over the future of Mesut Ozil, who may be allowed to depart the Emirates this summer.

20.06 GMT: Italian outlet Il Messaggero reports that Lazio are working on a new contract for 27-year-old midfielder Luis Alberto that would include a €100m buyout clause because Liverpool will receive 30% of any fee the Roman club would receive should they ever sell the once-capped Spain international.

18.49 GMT: In January, it seemed as though Olivier Giroud would be anywhere but Chelsea by the end of the month. Now, though, restored to a role in the first team, he's flourished, and when asked by the Athletic if he would like to remain with the West London club, he said: "Yes. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course."

17.32 GMT: With Josef Martinez suffering a torn ACL, Atlanta United are in the market for a new striker, and journalist Nicolo Schira has reported that the 2018 MLS Cup champions are interested in Villarreal's Carlos Bacca and are also considering free agent Daniel Sturridge. How either would fit into the team's salary structure, having all three Designated Player spots occupied, would be a massive hurdle to overcome.

16.15 GMT: Quite why Real Madrid would let manager Zinedine Zidane go after only recently persuading him to come back is beyond us, but the Daily Mail reckons that Juventus are waiting to land him.

Zidane played in Turin for five years between 1996-2001 before moving to Madrid, but his managerial career could go the other way and Juve are set to offer him €10m over a three-season contract to make it happen.

The report claims that Juve "would not be required to pay a fee to free the Frenchman from his contract, which is set to expire in June 2022" though doesn't explain why that's the case.

14.57 GMT: Manchester United may have turned their form around of late, but if they want Harry Kane to sign from Tottenham, do they also need to trade in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for Mauricio Pochettino as manager?

13.40 GMT: Real Madrid loanee Achraf Hakimi is likely to head back to Spain, so Dortmund are looking for a new full-back this summer.

Step forward PSG right-back Thomas Meunier, who just so happens to be a free agent once his contract expires in July. Goal reports that Bayern Munich are also keen on the Belgian, as well as Arsenal and Man United, so it's not going to be a simple decision for him.

12.56 GMT: Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp, 19, is set for a new contract, says Football Insider.

Jose Mourinho has clearly been impressed by the Englishman, while defender Japhet Tanganga is also in line for improved terms.

12.03 GMT: Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been impressing this season, as the club try to challenge for the Serie A title.

Milinkovic-Savic, 25, has been linked with a move to one of Europe's top clubs for years and the Serbia midfielder is favourite to join Inter Milan.

FCInternews says the club have made him their top target, with Chelsea possibly interested depending on the future of manager Frank Lampard after the season has ended. In any case, Milinkovic-Savic would cost at least €80m.

11.10 GMT: Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson, 72, has signed a new deal with the club until the end of 2020/21.

Hodgson told the club website: "I am delighted that the club and I have reached agreement to extend my contract. I am proud of what we have achieved since I was appointed two and a half years ago, and I look forward to us working together for the foreseeable future.

"Everyone knows how I feel about the club that I supported as a boy, I feel a special bond with the supporters and know that myself, the owners and the players are all working together to achieve the same goal."

11.04 GMT: Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour impressed against Liverpool in the FA Cup and now he's being linked with a move to Man City.

Gilmour, 18, was signed from Rangers for around £500,000 in 2017 and has only just made his breakthrough into the first team.

The Scottish midfielder has now impressed enough for Pep Guardiola to get interested and El Desmarque reports that City are ready to make a bid.

Gilmour would do well to note the development of young Phil Foden at City though. The 19-year-old has been tipped to become a superstar, and shone in the Carabao Cup final win over Aston Villa, but has been used sparingly in recent seasons and has only played 51 games in the last two years.

10.12 GMT: RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is set to move on this summer and Liverpool looks like his destination.

09.21 GMT: Superdeporte reports that Valencia are negotiating with Levante to sign central defender Oscar Duarte.

Los Che are looking to make an emergency signing after losing Ezequiel Garay to a season-ending knee injury last month. Valencia failed to reach an agreement with Real Betis to acquire Zouhair Feddal and have turned their attention to Duarte.

According to Superdeporte, Duarte would join Valencia on loan until the end of the season for a fee. The Costa Rica defender, who has Spanish nationality, has made seven appearances for Levante this season, including six in La Liga.

08.29 GMT: According to reports in Turkey, Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir is being lined up to join Chelsea.

Cakir, 23, has been linked with Liverpool but could now be a replacement for the out-of-favour Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Trabzonspor are just one point behind Turkish league leaders Istanbul Basaksehir and would reportedly be willing to accept around €20m for their goalkeeper.

08.00 GMT: Robinho is in talks with Santos with a view to returning to the club as a free agent in the summer.

Robinho's contract with Turkish outfit Istanbul Basaksehir ends in June. The 36-year-old, who began his career at Santos, and played for Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan, among other clubs, would put pen to paper on a deal that would see him earn 500,000 Brazilian reales ($108,000) per month plus bonuses.

Juventus still see Icardi as top target

Juventus are targeting Paris Saint-Germain loan striker Mauro Icardi this summer and are prepared to hand €100m to parent club Inter Milan to get him, says Calciomercato.

The Italian giants are targeting a big move this summer to bolster their attack and they have long courted the Argentine striker.

Icardi is on loan in the French capital and PSG have an option to keep him on a permanent basis for €70m, but Juventus could step up their interest after having made moves to try and swap Icardi with two players in January. Icardi is reported to love Serie A, and so a move to Turin could suit both parties.

Coutinho key to Barca's summer spending

Spanish title Sport is reporting that Barca are considering using Philippe Coutinho as a makeweight to land their summer transfer targets, if the Brazilian doesn't join Bayern Munich.

The Blaugrana hierarchy are unsure whether or not the German giants intend on making Coutinho's loan move a permanent one, though they do have first dibs for €120m should they decide to keep him.

The former Liverpool man has scored nine goals in 31 appearances this season and has been in and out of Hansi Flick's starting XI, but he has support from his teammates, who want the club to make him a long-term part of the squad.

Bayern could be scared off by Coutinho's price, or his inconsistency, and, if so, Barca are planning on moving him on to their own advantage. Coutinho has little future at Camp Nou, but he could come in handy when Barca look to strengthen their forward line at the end of the season, particularly when it comes to a move for Kylian Mbappe.

Tottenham, Everton battle to sign Celtic's Edouard

Everton have been sending scouts to watch Celtic sensation Odsonne Edouard, reports the Daily Mail, and the Toffees could battle it out with Spurs for the striker's services.

The French Under-21 international has been in electric form at Parkhead and the Glasgow giants, currently chasing a 10th consecutive league title, have been looking to secure the striker to a new deal. However, they also know that Edouard is a man in demand and Everton in particular have been regular visitors, sending scouts to consecutive games against Kilmarnock and FC Copenhagen.

Both Everton and Spurs would have to part with £30m to sign a player whose former club Paris Saint-Germain inserted a huge sell-on clause into any future deal.

Edouard has scored 61 goals in 123 games and could prove the perfect partner for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has been offered a new and improved contract.

Tap-ins

- Manchester City and Barcelona are both chasing Italian defender Alessandro Bastoni, but the duo could be disappointed with employers Inter Milan ready to offer the 20-year-old a contract extension. Bastoni is already contracted to the Serie A contenders until 2023, but he could be keen to improve his €300,000-a-year earnings with a move away from the San Siro.

- AC Milan are tracking Dayot Upamecano as they look to update their defence this summer. Milan had met the defender's representatives in the summer to discuss his future, and they will double down this summer in an effort to fend off stiff competition from a number of top clubs including Arsenal and Tottenham. The man himself has suggested he's happy at RB Leipzig, so Milan might have to dig deep.
