Sevilla rule out Adil Rami, Daniel Carrico this week due to injury

Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli will be forced to make at least two changes for this week's La Liga games against Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao with Adil Rami and Daniel Carrico both ruled out through injury.

The two players started in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Eibar but French defender Rami was forced off the pitch after 11 minutes played with a hamstring problem while a groin injury led to Carrico's exit in the second half.

The Europa League holders host city rivals Betis on Tuesday before squaring off against Athletic Bilbao at the San Mames stadium four days later.

"Adil Rami and Daniel Carrico are awaiting further tests to confirm their respective diagnosis but both are ruled out for the Tuesday and Saturday games," Sevilla said via statement.

"The Frenchman has a left hamstring issue while the Portuguese has groin pain in his right leg. A full diagnosis will be known this week."

Sevilla have won two of their four La Liga games and go into Tuesday's derby on the back of a goalless draw at Juventus in their Champions League group opener and Saturday's 1-1 result at Eibar.

Sampaoli's side have won five and drawn just one of their last six meetings against Betis.

Betis last scored a goal against Sevilla in March 2014 when the two teams met in the Europa League last 16. Betis won the opening leg 2-0 but Sevilla won the tie.
